ChatGPT is a chat system that can generate plausible, essay-length answers to a variety of writing prompts. However, ChatGPT also commonly invents citations as the sources for its writing. This shortcoming offers an excellent way for health sciences faculty to detect uses of ChatGPT in writing assignments, and provides avenues for altering writing assignments to reduce the allure of using ChatGPT. Learn about four simple tips that can be incorporated into writing assignments to reduce the utility of ChatGPT, four clues to identify ChatGPT-generated citations, and learn to use library-licensed resources to determine if a cited item is imaginary or real.
