SUMMARY:USC Dataverse: A Guide to Data Curation\, Sharing\, and Discoverability
DESCRIPTION:On January 25\, 2023\, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) 
 issued the Data Management and Sharing (DMS) Policy\, which stated that NIH 
 funded researchers will be required to budget and develop a data management 
 plan to make their data accessible. As a result\, the USC Libraries and USC 
 Center for Advanced Research Computing partnered to create the USC 
 Dataverse that allows for the sharing and storage of USC research data 
 created by faculty\, students\, and staff and satisfies the data management 
 plan policies from the NIH.\n\nThis also allows for data to be accessible\, 
 discoverable and reusable by the public and provides the web visibility to 
 increase the citation counts for USC faculty. When data is published on the 
 USC Dataverse\, it is also assigned a Digital Object Identifier (DOI)\, 
 ensuring a stable and standardized reference. The platform also hosts 
 dataverse collections for various campus groups\, such as schools\, 
 departments\, centers and institutes. \n\nBy the end of the session\, 
 participants will be able to access and upload their own dataset to the USC 
 Dataverse.
